Emma Raducanu will continue to hire and fire tennis coaches for the rest of her career and “people need to get over it,” insists the British agent.

  • The British ace has been criticized before for frequently changing coaches.
  • Raducanu has worked with five different experts in the last two years

Emma Raducanu will continue her approach of hiring and firing coaches as she has done for most of her career thus far, according to the tennis star’s agent, Max Eisenbud.

The 20-year-old British star is currently recovering from wrist and ankle surgery that saw her miss the French Open and Wimbledon this summer, but she’s back in the gym as she speeds up her recovery.

Raducanu emerged as one of the surprising Grand Slam champions in 2021 when she triumphed at the US Open as an 18-year-old ranked 150 in the world and has continued to change coaches frequently ever since.

As his star status soared, Raducanu and his team swapped coaches with Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson, Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursunov and most recently Sebastian Sachs, all working with the rising star over the past two years.

The Canadian-born athlete has received criticism for this approach, but her agent explained that it is something that will not change in the future.

“The training situation, right or wrong, and this is something that his father and Emma largely control in the whole training thing, that’s been his philosophy up until the juniors,” Eisenbud told the media. tennis podcast.

‘They never had coaches for a long time. You’ve probably heard of it. For them that’s calm waters, having a coach for five months and moving on to another.

“That’s not traditional and it’s not the norm for most to win a Grand Slam and change coaches,” he added.

Eisenbud went on to explain that this was an approach taken throughout the women’s game, noting how Raducanu benefited from ending her player-coach relationship with Sears before winning in the United States.

Raducanu has yet to decide who will be in charge of working with her behind the scenes once she is able to play again, but her agent insisted that “people need to get over” the coaching changes.

“I think you see players changing coaches all the time, particularly on the women’s circuit. I think people have a hard time understanding how you can get to the fourth round at Wimbledon and then not continue to work with Nigel Sears, who is a great coach and a great guy.

‘All the people when she stopped working with Nigel were killing her… then she won the US Open.

You were killing her for not staying with Nigel and then she won the US Open. She then goes back to change trainers.

‘People need to get over the fact that that’s what they have to do. It’s probably going to be like that for the rest of his career.
