Emma McKeon’s swimming coach has opened up about the Olympic champion’s relationship with Cody Simpson and why he thinks the power couple could be together forever.
McKeon, Australia’s most decorated Olympian, is preparing for the Paris Games in July and her coach Michael Bohl, who also coaches Simpson, believes he has seen a big change in her because of the romance.

At the 2020 Summer Olympics, she became the first swimmer and second woman in history to win seven medals in a single game.

McKeon and Simpson made their relationship official in July 2022, three months after they began secretly dating.

Bohl says the relationship has made McKeon happier and calmer.
“She was at a stage in her life where she was single…and swimming was definitely her main focus,” Bohl says.
‘Swimming is still his main focus, but now he is in a relationship. She and Cody are going out. They take their relationship very seriously. There is that level of satisfaction, but I don’t see it transferring to her attitude toward training.
“She’s very focused on trying to position herself as best she can to try to secure spots on that Olympic team.”
“I think you’re happier when you’re in a relationship and you’re a little more at peace as you get older.”
Last year, the couple, who will celebrate their second anniversary this month, bought their first home together.
Coach Michael Bohl (pictured with Simpson) says the pair are very much in love and he can see them ending up together.
McKeon became Australia’s most successful Olympian of all time when she was 27 years old.
“You can see they end up together,” Bohl said.
‘They are very in love.
“That hasn’t taken away his desire to succeed in the pool, but he seems a little happier.”
“It’s not that I was sad before, but when you have a partner that you just get along with, that gives you a little more stability.”
