EMILY PRESCOTT: ‘Superstitious’ Paul Mescal ate at the same Mexican restaurant in London for 50 DAYS straight while appearing on A Streetcar Named Desire
If Normal People star Paul Mescal wins a Best Actor Oscar tonight, I hope he thanks restaurateur Thomasina Miers in his acceptance speech.
Nominated for his role in Aftersun, Paul is a huge fan of his Wahaca Mexican restaurant chain and ate the same meal at one of the London outlets every day during his theater stint in A Streetcar Named Desire.
“She has this superstitious thing,” Miers said in Wahaca Shoreditch during an International Women’s Day event.
‘He had the same food for about 50 days straight!’
Her meal included chicken quesadilla, two chicken tacos, patatas bravas, and a Coke, so I hope that Oscar outfit still fits!

The Oscar-nominated actor visited Wahaca for 50 days straight while appearing in Tennessee Williams’ A Street Car Named Desire.
Marco Pierre White’s son, Luciano, doesn’t seem to have inherited his father’s good luck when it comes to restaurants. I heard the young chef had to close his namesake Italian restaurant in Exeter, which featured a menu full of family favorites, just a year after he opened.
Gino cooks up some songs
He is best known for cooking on This Morning and his television series Road Trip alongside Gordon Ramsay and maître d’ Fred Sirieix.
But it seems that Gino D’Acampo has now turned his talents into a composer. Gino, 46, has written two albums, called First Five Ingredients and Me And My Guitar, for former X Factor contestant Scott Wilkes, who Gino says has the perfect voice for his songs.
Although the Italian-born Gino has resisted the urge to sing, he plays guitar on the tracks and offers the prospect of passionate Scotsman Ramsay joining them in the future. “He could play the bagpipes,” Gino jokes. I guess Gordon blows a lot of hot air…
