Emily Atack steps back into the eighties as she sports beehive hairdo and gold dress while filming new Disney+ series Rivals

Date:

Emily Attack has taken a step back to the eighties when she was spotted filming scenes for her new Disney+ series Rivals in Bristol this week.

The 33-year-old actress looked stunning with her hair up as she dazzled in a black and gold outfit for a red carpet TV awards scene that took place outside a Bristol city center hotel.

Emily was joined by The Crown star Oliver Chris, 44, who appeared to be her love interest on the series as the two posed and smiled together.

The comedian’s golden locks were permed and pinned to the top of her head as she rocked an effortless glam look in an elaborate black and gold sparkle gown.

The former In Betweeners star will star in the eight-part series Rivals, which is an adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s bawdy novel of the same name.

The book was published in 1988 and explores the cutthroat world of independent television during the year 1986.

It follows the longstanding rivalry between ladies’ man Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell, 42) and the controller of the independent TV franchise Corinium Television, Tony Baddingham (David Tennant, 52).

The series is based on one of the 10 novels in the Rutshire Chronicles series, which suggests there could be many more seasons to come.

Emily beamed as she finished the look with a modest pair of gold heels and a gold clutch.

She kept it stylish with a bold red lip and drew attention to her fabulous figure with a gold corset that cinched at her waist.

Emily plays Sarah Stratton, the new wife of Deputy Prime Minister Paul Stratton, who will be played by 48-year-old Rufus Jones.

Enjoying the filming process, the star was seen laughing with her colleagues as they chatted between takes during the red carpet scene.

Also starring in the star-studded series is Aidan Turner, 40, of Poldark, who will play TV host Declan O’Hara, while former EastEnders star Danny Dyer, 46, plays electronics millionaire Freddie Jones.

British comedian Katherine Parkinson, 45, plays Lizzie Vereker, a romance novelist constantly ignored by her husband, the slick and egotistical TV presenter James Vereker, played by Oliver Chris.

In one take, Emily kept a stern face as she linked arms with her co-star Oliver Chris.

Her co-star David Tennant was also seen in the background of the snaps as the cast filmed in the bright sunshine.

In early March it was revealed that Emily had scrapped her own ITV2 comedy show after three series to star in this new role.

She launched The Emily Attack Show in November 2020, almost two years after finishing as a finalist on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, and it proved to be a hit with young audiences.

A TV source told MailOnline: “The show means a lot to Emily, but she felt the time was right to move on, there are no plans to do another one.”

“It takes a lot of work and dedication and other commitments this year meant it would be hard to give it my all in another series.
