Hundreds of Queensland residents have been ordered to stay home as police negotiate with a man inside a suburban home.

An “emergency situation” was declared on Hood Street in Urangan, Hervey Bay, at around 4.30am on Friday, following a welfare check at 3am

“Upon arrival, police initiated negotiations with a male resident at the address,” Queensland Police said.

“The emergency situation was declared around 4:30 in the morning.”

The specific reason why the police declared the closure under the Public Safety Preservation Law has not been revealed.
