In this episode of Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports Senior NBA Reporter Vincent Goodwill joins Isis “Ice” Young to discuss everything going on in the first part of the 2024-25 NBA season.
Vinnie and Ice begin with Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid’s NBA suspension for shoving a reporter in the locker room. Ice talks about the lines that were crossed and Vinnie explains why the journalist might have felt comfortable mentioning Embiid’s family in his article before noting that the star player will make his season debut during the ALCS opener. NBA.
Anthony Davis is dealing with his own injury, but Vinnie explains why he doesn’t expect Davis to miss anytime soon, while Ice points out that the Lakers have become dependent on their big man and need him to stay healthy.
Speaking of which, the Nuggets will be without Aaron Gordon for a few weeks due to a calf injury. Vinnie explains why calf injuries in NBA players make him nervous before explaining why he thinks Gordon is the Nuggets’ second-most important player.
Vince and Ice then turn their attention to the 2014 NBA Draft class, who appears to be finding their place in the NBA. Whether it’s maturity (Ja Morant), timing (RJ Barrett) or just luck with health (Darius Garland), everyone seems to be finding success this season…except Zion Williamson, whose struggles to stay healthy cause Vinnie and Ice to ask how long it will last. It will be his career in the NBA.
Finally, Draymond Green shared some fun (and cute) moments on the court against his former teammate Jordan Poole, leading us to wonder if he’s finally matured enough to avoid causing the Warriors problems with his behavior.
