Fans of the former president loved his cameo, but those on the other side mocked his awkward enthusiasm and expressed fears for democracy since he owns Twitter.

But others didn’t find Musk’s appearance amusing, fearing he would use his Twitter ownership to help Trump be a dictator.

Other Twitter users focused more on a post from Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, that encouraged Trump fans to “ten fake names, go to 10 polling places, and vote 10 times.”

Another segment of critics claimed that Musk seemed desperate to suck up to Trump and that his support for the former president was bad for Tesla’s business.

Dark MAGA first emerged in 2022 as a meme among Trump supporters, calling for his return to the presidency at all costs, including dictatorship.
They argued that Trump was justified in being authoritarian once he regained power and often shared dystopian images juxtaposed with Trump slogans.

While the two men were on stage, Trump praised Musk for donating Starlink systems to victims of Hurricane Helene, joking that he didn’t understand what the space satellite internet system was.

Before Musk’s arrival, Trump paid tribute to Corey Comperatore, the man who was shot and killed when gunman Thomas Crooks opened fire on July 13.

Comperatore’s widow and their children also returned to the rally, sitting with members of the Trump family.
Trump also paid tribute to two other men who were injured in the attack.
