From a complete overhaul of the verification system to reinstating controversial accounts, including those of Donald Trump and Andrew Tate, Elon Musk has made a number of questionable changes since buying Twitter last year.
But his latest change is arguably his biggest yet.
The entrepreneur officially got rid of the bird logo and changed Twitter’s name to X.
Users criticized the decision, with many taking to the platform to express their confusion.
One user expressed: “Can someone tell this man to leave Twitter alone?” while another quipped: “Twitter is rebranding to X and I can’t help but ask Y.”
News of the rebranding was confirmed by Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino, who tweeted a photo of the company’s new logo, writing: ‘X is here! Let’s do it’

Musk also changed his own profile picture to the new logo and changed his bio to “X.com,” which now redirects to twitter.com.
In addition, the Twitter account itself has changed its name to X, along with the new logo as a profile picture.
After the change, many confused users have switched to the platform.
‘What is X???? Can someone tell this man to leave Twitter alone? one user wrote.
‘Wait… is Twitter actually renaming itself ‘X’???? I… I don’t understand how that makes sense. So that????’ another wrote.
One added: ‘Elon must be having another midlife crisis. Do you think this makes you cool and edgy? Do you think this will make smart people pay for things that are FREE? Goodbye Twitter, Elon Musk was the worst thing to happen to this useful and sometimes fun platform.
And another quipped: ‘Bye twitter then I guess. Is it just me or does the new ‘X’ name and logo look/sound like a gay sex club or a porn studio or something?
#GoodbyeTwitter and #RIPTwitter are now trending on the platform.

Musk’s affinity for the letter X in both his professional and personal life has been growing for 25 years, though he has rarely given a reason.
One of Musk’s early companies became known as X.com was first launched as an online banking and financial services platform in 1999.
A year later, he was forced to resign his position as CEO of the company.
“Everyone tried to talk him out of naming the company back then because of the sexual innuendos, but he really liked it and stuck with it,” Ashlee Vance, author of Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future, said of the X.com domain, according to npr.
Three years later, he made $165 million when eBay bought the site, by then merged with PayPal.
Musk would later buy PayPal’s X.com domain back in 2017. That site now directs people to Twitter.
‘Thanks to PayPal for letting me buy X.com back! No plans at this time, but it has great sentimental value to me,” Musk wrote on Twitter in 2017.
That dominance was Musk’s first major use of the letter X, but not his last.
Musk is also the founder and CEO of SpaceX, which is formally known as Space Exploration Technologies Corporation.
