A liberal journalist who has written a biography of Elon Musk claims the DOGE co-chairman is “going crazy” in a way that will have “huge consequences” for the United States.
Musk has been busier and more influential than ever, juggling Tesla, X, SpaceX, the Trump transition team and his efforts to support political candidates in Britain and Germany.
Seth Abrahamson, who has written several anti-Trump books and is writing a running biography of Muskbelieves it drives him crazy.
‘I rightly believe that Elon Musk is going crazy. I am a biographer of Musk who has been monitoring his online behavior for the past two years – and given that he has suffered from mental illness, heavy drug use and crippling stress, it is now reasonable to fear that he is seriously ill.” he wrote on Tuesday on Musk-owned X.
Abramson then repeated the oft-derisive claim that Musk, not Trump, will run the show in Washington to raise the stakes of his alleged madness.
“His private struggle would not be of public interest unless it had dramatic public consequences. His holdings in many industries essential to civilization and the fact that he is the new POTUS mean that his madness and increasing incitement to violence endangers us all,” Abramson claimed.
He then argued that once Trump is inaugurated, he and his administration will no longer be “in a position to take urgent action to protect America from Elon Musk” and implored the Biden administration to act.
That would mean disbanding DOGE, launching federal and state security investigations and terminating government contracts with its companies.

“If no action is taken – and I suspect no action will be taken – what this man in his burgeoning madness does to America as POTUS in the coming years will not only be on the heads of him and those who support him or enable, but also those who ignored urgent, informed warnings like this one.”
Abramson provided no tangible evidence of Musk’s madness and is refusing all interview requests.
Melania Trump, on the other hand, is reportedly unbothered by the increasing amount of time Musk has spent at her Mar-A-Lago home in West Palm Beach since the November election.
It’s understood she views Trump’s relationship with the tech billionaire as a “net positive” and one insider expects the new First Lady will find her own ways to work with the Tesla owner.
Speak with People a Palm Beach source even went so far as to claim that Melania would love to have a “babysitter” for her husband, adding that she makes the best of things she has no control over.
The source said: ‘Melania has her own life and is not bothered by the political dealings her husband has with others. But so far she has no problems with Musk.”
Another source added that the 54-year-old tends to stay out of her husband’s political involvement.
This is despite the fact that their Mar-a-Lago estate became a base for prominent Republican politicians during and after the campaign – with Trump hosting several rallies there.

A source said: “For the most part, she doesn’t touch on topics her husband discusses with Musk or anyone else around him. Right now, Trump has a lot of people who want things from him. She knows that all too well.’
It’s also claimed that Melania will likely look for her own ways to work with Musk on issues, with their own relationship described as “smooth so far.”
During her previous term as First Lady, Melania led the Be Best campaign, which advocated for action to protect young Americans from cyberbullying.
As of October 2022, Musk owns X, formerly Twitter, one of the world’s leading social media sites, meaning Musk could provide expertise in monitoring behavior online.
Since Trump’s landslide victory on November 5, Musk has become a near-ubiquitous figure at Mar-a-Lago, with the Space X owner even spending Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve at the estate.
In December, Musk was rumored to be eyeing a $100 million penthouse just a seven-minute drive from Trump’s home.
This is a rumor that Musk has since denied.
Musk is expected to play a key role in Trump’s next administration.
He will head the brand new Department of Government Efficiency, or ‘Doge’ for short, alongside former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Although it has “department” in the name, it is not an official U.S. government department.
Instead, Doge will advise the Trump White House on how to reduce costs to shrink the size of government.
