Ellen DeGeneres has revealed that she will be ending her relationship with the entertainment industry after her upcoming Netflix special.
DeGeneres, 66, took the stage for a stand-up show in Santa Rosa last week for her Ellen’s Last Stand… Up tour, two years after her talk show was canceled following a toxic workplace scandal that tarnished her reputation as TV’s favorite host.
During the show, the comedian opened up about her departure from the spotlight and joked that the next time she gets cancelled it will be for being “old, gay and mean,” according to Gate of Saint Francis.
When asked if he might return to fame at some point in the future, he firmly ruled out that possibility.
“This is the last time you’ll see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done,” Ellen said of her upcoming hour-long show, which will be taped this fall.

“Let me bring you up to date on what’s been happening to me since you last saw me,” Ellen told the audience.
“I have chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
DeGeneres added: “I used to say, ‘I don’t care what people say about me.’ I realize now that I said that during the height of my popularity.”
The 34-time Emmy winner said she was first “kicked out of showbiz” for coming out as a lesbian in 1997.
“Next time I’ll be kicked out for being old. Old, gay and bad, the triple crown,” joked Ellen, who said she never intended to hurt anyone.
“I can be demanding, impatient and tough. I am a strong woman. I am many things, but I am not bad.”
DeGeneres famously voiced the forgetful fish Dory in the Pixar films Finding Nemo (2003) and Finding Dory (2016), as well as the DVD special featurette Exploring the Reef with Jean-Michel Cousteau (2003), and was begged by one fan to re-voice her.
“No,” the Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient said in a farewell. “I’m signing off, remember?”

Earlier this week, Ellen decided not to address her fans before quietly canceling four shows scheduled in Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago on her 32-date comeback tour.

The DeGeneres scandal was sparked by a A single tweet written by comedian Kevin T. Porter in March 2020 asking people to tell “the craziest stories they’ve heard about Ellen being mean,” which racked up 2,600 responses.
Four months later, BuzzFeed News published an article featuring one current and ten former employees of the Louisiana-born comedian’s former eponymous daytime talk show, alleging racism, workplace bullying and sexual harassment.
By August 2020, WarnerMedia had launched an internal investigation, Ellen had issued a formal apology to its 255 employees, and executive producers Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman, and Jonathan Norman were fired from the show.
DeGeneres, who also apologized to fans on-air, aired her final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 26, 2022 after 19 seasons.
She later called it a “coordinated misogynistic” attack on her and has stayed out of the spotlight since the talk show finale aired on May 26, 2022.

The comedian’s cancellations came hours after SF Gate homepage editor Gabe Lehman published his detailed review of her show at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa, California.

“Unfortunately, the event organizer had to cancel their event,” Ticketmaster informed its customers on Wednesday.
‘You don’t need to do anything. We will refund the amount to the original payment method used at the time of purchase as soon as we receive the funds from the event organizer.
‘It should appear in your account within 14-21 days. Note: If the tickets were transferred to you, the refund will be made to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.’
Ellen’s next performance is scheduled for Monday at the Paramount Theatre in Denver, Colorado.
