Ellen DeGeneres’ bizarre nickname for disgraced rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has come to light following his arrest for sex trafficking.
A 2016 tweet from the comedian, 66, has been circulating on X (formerly Twitter) in recent days, in which she referred to Diddy as ‘Cuddle McSnugglestuff.’
The nickname was part of a brief thank you DeGeneres had tweeted to Combs on his birthday.
‘Happy birthday, P Diddy, Puff Daddy, Sean Combs or as I call him, Cuddle McSnugglestuff. You don’t need to know why,” he wrote on November 4, 2016.
Some found it disturbing that she had a ‘nickname’ with the music mogul, who is now in a New York jail accused of sex trafficking and extortion.
‘Do you know how sick you must be to have a nickname with Diddy??!?!?’ one fan wrote in response to DeGeneres’ tweet on Thursday.

A 2016 tweet from the comedian, 66, has been recirculating on X (formerly Twitter) in recent days, in which she referred to Diddy as ‘Cuddle McSnugglestuff.’
Another commented: ‘This has aged… badly. Here to comment before the inevitable elimination.’
A different X user added: “What a strange thing to say.”
Fans found the nickname especially creepy because Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, and many other people openly accused him of rape and sexual assault.
He is also accused of having organized wild sex parties called ‘Freak Offs’ at their homes, where ‘coerced’ people were allegedly forced to participate in days-long sexual displays for Combs’ pleasure.
Some speculated that DeGeneres’ tweet would soon be deleted from her X account, which has 73.9 million followers, in an attempt to distance herself from Combs.
DeGeneres is just one of many A-list stars whose past interactions and/or affiliations with Combs have come under scrutiny in the wake of his Sept. 17 accusation.
Days after his arrest, a clip of DeGeneres seemingly alluded to Combs’ penchant for partying during a 2018 interview with the music mogul.
In the February 2018 appearance, DeGeneres, 66, noticed that Combs had arrived late to her taping and asked him if he would be late to a party she was planning.
‘Are you going to be early to my party?’ said DeGeneres, whose career has been hit for the past four years following a toxic workplace scandal that ultimately led to the cancellation of her long-running show.

Combs replied, “Yes, I am, no, you know, I have to be fashionably late,” to which DeGeneres said, “Not too late though, please.”
Combs asked DeGeneres, “What time do you want me to be there?” to which she said, ‘I’ll tell you later.’
He added: “But not too late, because, you know, once you get there, the party really starts, you know what I’m saying?
“Yeah… I got you. I promise I won’t let you down on this very important matter, I really do,” Combs said. “You’re going to get blisters on your feet, you’re going to dance really hard.”
DeGeneres, whose awkward November 2019 exchange with Dakota Johnson preceded a wave of bad publicity during the 2020 pandemic, told Combs, “I can’t wait.”
Diddy was indicted in New York on September 17 and charged with extortion, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
He pleaded not guilty to all three charges and was denied bail.
The judge presiding over his case agreed with prosecutors that he was a serious risk of flight and that he represented a danger to others.
