A police officer was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in broad daylight.

The officer was attacked next to the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park on Elizabeth Street, Sydney, about 1pm on Sunday.

He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital after receiving non-life-threatening head injuries.

A NSW Police spokesperson confirmed a 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for assessment.

Footage from the scene shows a dozen police officers and paramedics treating a man before he was lifted onto a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.

“There is no ongoing threat to the public,” the spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
