International Referee and member of the ICC Elite Panel, Aleem Dar has donated USD 10,000 to the Pakistan Dam Fund. Aleem Dar confirmed the news of his donation in a video posted online. "I decided to contribute $ 10,000 to the dam fund initiative," said Aleem Dar cited by www.icc-cricket.com. The fund is underway to build new water reservoirs within the next seven years to avoid a severe drought in Pakistan.
"I appreciate the efforts made by the President of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (Mian Saqib Nisar) and the government of Pakistan to build dams in Pakistan," said the referee.
He also called for other Pakistanis to contribute.
"This initiative is going to be a great benefit for us and for our future generations in the future," he said.
"I would ask people in Pakistan and those living abroad to offer generously to contribute to this cause," he added.
Pakistan's Prime Minister and the 1992 World Cup winning captain, Imran Khan, has also asked Pakistanis at home and abroad to donate to the fund in an attempt to help the country's water shortage crisis .
