An 11-month-old baby is in a critical condition at the hospital after being shot three times while in a car in Pennsylvania.

The baby boy had ridden with his stepmother on the 700 block of West Lucerne Street in North Philadelphia on Saturday night, when the woman heard gunshots.

She continued to drive to the 4900 block of North Camac Street in an attempt to get away from the shots, NBC 10 reports.

When she arrived at her destination, about 10 minutes later, she noticed that there were five bullet holes in her car.

Police say the baby has sustained gunshot wounds to the head, chest and buttocks.

The boy's stepmother brought him to the Einstein Medical Center, but he was then transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital.

It is currently listed as being in an extremely critical condition.

They have also not released any information about who the suspect is.

On Facebook, Cash shared that a reporter informed her that the baby was not doing well.
