An elderly woman has died after a car collided with a ute near a rural village.
Emergency services rushed to Bunnan Road, Owens Gap, 22 kilometers west of Scone, following reports that a Mitsubishi Lancer had collided with a Nissan Navara.
Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 4pm on Friday and the front passenger of the Mitsubishi Lancer was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the sedan, 53, and the female passenger, 39, were airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the ute, 27, and his passenger, 24, were also rushed to John Hunter Hospital.
The drivers of both vehicles have undergone mandatory testing.
Initial reports suggest the sedan was attempting to negotiate a right bend when it collided with the ute.
Officers attached to the Hunter and Mid North Coast Accident Investigation Units attended and established the crime scene.
