Shocking video shows a 78-year-old writhing in pain on the ground after he was allegedly shot by an Idaho sheriff with a stun gun when the elderly man was questioned for his role in an alleged traffic accident.
The deputy who arrested the man has now been suspended and is under investigation; he has not been identified. The man’s family denies that he was involved in a traffic dispute. The 78-year-old is pictured on social media with ID as a Mormon missionary.
“This whole case is being looked at very closely,” Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough told the Times-News on Tuesday. He did not respond to a request for more details from DailyMail.com.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon, when a truck driver reported to an Idaho public safety coordinator that there had been a traffic accident in Gooding County. The driver claimed that a weapon may have been involved.
Emergency services went to the home of 78-year-old John Hall, who, according to the truck driver, had been involved in the incident. It was there that someone allegedly used a taser on Hall – before the video begins.

John Hall, 78, appeared to be the subject of a brutal removal by an Idaho deputy sheriff
The deputy, who has not been named, is said to have tasered the 78-year-old before taking him down
Anthony Hall’s video begins with his father, James, and grandfather, John, both lying face down on the floor after each being shot with Tasers, he says.
“Are you an old man?” Anthony asks the deputy. ‘What the hell is wrong with you? Are you attacking an old bastard?’
The deputy appears to call for backup to help handcuff James, whose age is not clear, after which another deputy arrives.
‘These people are unarmed, they’ [the cops] bring a gun,” Anthony continues.
One of the men on the ground says they are handcuffed for no reason, while one of the officers replies that they are going to jail.
The sheriff’s deputy says they are being arrested for ‘obstruction in the lane’, while the men claim they have done nothing wrong.
At the beginning of the video, Deputy Sheriff John Hall, 78, can be seen putting on the handcuffs
John Hall’s son, James Hall (green shirt) was also handcuffed
“He’s got failing livers,” Anthony says of his grandfather to the deputy sheriff. “He has failing kidneys. You’re going to kill him!’ He’s an old man, what the hell is wrong with you?’
“I understand you’re trying to do your job, [but] what the f***?’ Anthony continues.
As the confrontation continues, a woman enters the picture to try to cover up the situation, with Anthony sarcastically noting that she should be arrested for “obstruction of justice.”
At one point, John’s wife, Verla, appears to be talking to the deputy sheriff. John Hall is eventually taken into a police vehicle, but not formally arrested
James Hall is led away while the woman, presumably John’s wife, Verla, continues to talk to the deputy sheriff.
John Hall can then bleed profusely from his head before a deputy leads him away.
Anthony continues to get closer to the deputy, who tells him to step back. “Why the hell don’t you shoot me, I’m unarmed,” Anthony tells the deputy.
Anthony goes on to say that the family was getting ready for a camping trip, while Verla points out that her husband is injured, which is where the video ends.

The deputy involved in the incident has been suspended pending an external investigation
Anthony Hall said to MagicValley.com that his grandfather was being chased by the truck driver who apparently reported the “road rage” incident, causing his grandfather to tap his brakes to fend off the truck.
“He called it a fit of rage,” the sheriff said of the truck driver. ‘He said [the driver] tried to run him off the road… It went downhill from there.’
Anthony said the truck driver followed John as far as Wendell, Idaho, and then called 911.
When officers arrived, they were said to have confronted both John and Anthony’s father, James, who was a passenger in John’s car.

They proceeded to taser and handcuff both men before being taken to the ground, where the video continues.
In the end, neither John nor James Hall were arrested, while emergency medical personnel examined both men.
The Idaho state police eventually arrested Verla Hall for interfering with the deputies.
She was released on bail later that same night, Sheriff Shaun Gough told the Times-News.

The deputy responsible for the incident has not been identified, but Gough has revealed that he has been suspended.
An outside law enforcement agency will be responsible for investigating the incident.
Sheriff Shaun Gough did not respond to a request from DailyMail.com for more information about the investigation.
