An elderly gardener is fighting for his life after being crushed by a lawnmower on a prestigious golf course.
The man was working at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club when the lawnmower overturned and rolled down an embankment into a lake about 7.30am on Wednesday.
He was pulled to safety after briefly becoming trapped under the lawnmower and rushed to Princess Alexandria Hospital in a critical condition.
The man is being treated for life-threatening head and neck injuries.
Windaroo Lakes Golf Club, located halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Queensland, said an investigation would be launched.
“As you may or may not know, there was a workplace accident at Windaroo Lakes Golf Course this morning,” a social media post reads.
‘The person involved is currently receiving excellent care at PA Hospital.
‘A thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.

The elderly gardener suffered fatal head and neck injuries in the accident.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said a crew attended the scene and took the lawn mower from the lake.
Workplace health and safety Queensland is treating the freak accident as an industrial incident and has launched an investigation.
