The light-hearted ad, ‘Wine Rooms Heritage’, references the 2016 meeting between then-Trump adviser George Papadopoulos and former Australian High Commissioner Alexander Downer that sparked a scandal.
The meeting led to allegations of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign, and the subsequent Mueller Report.
It does not say whether the blue plaque on the door will be kept.
The cheerful sign at ‘Wine Rooms Heritage’ reads: ‘Donald Trump got into trouble here when a chat about wine turned into Russian hacking.’
It refers to the 2016 meeting between then-Trump adviser George Papadopoulos and former Australian High Commissioner Alexander Downer.
At the meeting, Papadopoulos is said to have boasted that Russia had political dirt on Hillary Clinton, who lost the US presidential election to Trump months later.
Downer relayed what he had been told to Australian officials in Canberra, who later briefed Washington on the revelations after Wikileaks published confidential Clinton emails.

This led to allegations of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign, and the subsequent Mueller Report.
Eton-educated Allsopp, who has two children with his ex-wife, model Jacquetta Wheeler, gave up his career in finance in 2021 to become a brewer.
He bought back the Allsopp trademarks from Carlsberg and BrewDog and opened the taps of Samuel Allsopp and Sons, founded in 1730.
‘(Location, Location, Location host) Kirstie will be given a special discount code, so she can buy beer at cost price,’ she told me at the time.
