Ellie Goulding wore flared trousers and a matching top with three large flowers to the 50th wedding anniversary party of Lord Anthony Bamford and his wife Carole.

It was the most lavish golden wedding party in Britain.

Boris Johnson’s wife Carrie, 36, and pop star Ellie Goulding, 37, were among those to don a pair of bell-bottoms for the 50th birthday celebrations of JCB billionaire Lord (Anthony) Bamford and his wife Carole, who created the Daylesford organic food empire.

Guests strolled past the donor’s collection of Ferraris and Porsches, which were parked in the driveway of the couple’s estate in Daylesford, Gloucestershire.

Seven hundred guests, including Sarah, Duchess of York, Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Lord (David) Cameron and his wife, Samantha, and Dame Joan Collins, enjoyed entertainment provided by Sir Van Morrison, nightclub legend Nile Rodgers and DJ Pete Tong.

The theme was 1974, the year the Bamfords got married.

Lord Bamford, 78, reminded guests that Carole had told him after the romance blossomed: “I’m in love with two men – you’re one of them, the other is Elvis.” She was referring to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, who was still alive at the time.

Their youngest son, George, told guests that he came home one night to find his parents singing and dancing to Right Said Fred’s I’m Too Sexy.

Nigel Farage’s new hire should fit right in

Nigel Farage’s new recruit, Caroline Edmondson, who will head his Westminster office, should fit in with the cordial atmosphere surrounding the Reform Party leader.

At a recent party hosted by the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Edmondson was noticeably drunk, groping certain male guests (including Mr Speaker) and slurring her words.

He announced that he had been having drinks on the terrace with Farage. Perhaps it was his job interview?

Their recent visit to Colombia was criticised by local politicians for its cost to the country, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appear to have acquired a taste for foreign travel.

The couple are said to be planning a third “quasi-royal tour” before the end of the year.

“That’s his world; that’s what he’s used to,” a Prince Harry insider tells Hello!.

The magazine suggests that possible destinations include Lesotho and Botswana, where her charity Sentebale operates. Her first trip abroad was to Nigeria in May.

Graham Norton’s mother is his harshest critic

“My mother watches the show on Fridays and I talk to her on Saturdays,” says the presenter.

A good review is, “I thought it was okay.” A bad review is, “How do you think it went?”

“Is it any wonder that I grew up seeking validation from strangers with that kind of upbringing?”
