The temperature may be rising, but there’s a chill descending on the London headquarters of Vogue supreme lady Anna Wintour.

After abandoning Vogue House, its elegant building in Mayfair for the last 66 years, the fashion bible moved to an office block on The Strand, a dirty street these days.

And the editors of other Condé Nast magazine titles with which Dame Anna, 74, shares the building, are said to have been furious with the office plan.

“There are only two offices with beautiful views of the River Thames,” says my wife in the shining empire.

And they have been caught by Dame Anna, known as “The Empress”, and Tatler editor Richard Dennen, whom we call “The Dauphin”. The building is seething with envy.’

And there I was thinking that The Devil Wears Prada was a work of fiction!

Daisy Dunn is a dazzling deity for book launch

Classicist seductress Daisy Dunn made sure to stand out at her latest book launch party in London by dressing like a Greek goddess.

Daisy, described as “the next Mary Beard”, has titled her book The Missing Thread. She maintains that the classical world should be reevaluated through her influential women.

“I’ve often wondered what these women would have thought if I had written this book,” she says.

‘I like to think they would be delighted. You could bet that if Sappho were here, he’d be looking at my classic white curtains. He once got into a fight with a woman and called her new lover a “country bum” with ragged clothes. I’m doing the best I can tonight.’

With £56million from former King Juan Carlos of Spain, with whom she enjoyed a five-year relationship, the vivacious Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn might seem to have her way. But it is not like that.

I can reveal he has just shaved £4.5m off the £15m asking price for the idyllic Regency property in Shropshire which he put on the market last year.

With 11 bedrooms, ten bathrooms, a pool, a tennis court, five cabins, and over 200 acres, it’s not hard to see why Corinna picked it up in 2015.

But two years later, at night, a plate-sized piece of glass was cut from his bedroom window. Then, while in Switzerland, she found a book about Princess Diana’s death on her coffee table.

Both, she claimed, were part of a campaign of harassment by the Spanish intelligence services, which led her to bring a High Court claim for £126m in damages against the Spanish state.

But the court ruled last year that the case was outside its jurisdiction.

Safety tips from the Victoria’s Secret star

She was just 15 when she appeared on the cover of American Vogue, propelling her to supermodel status before she reached her teens. Karolina Kurkova, now 40 years old and a mother of three, urges parents to keep a protective eye on her daughters who want to follow in her footsteps on the catwalk.

‘It is important to ask yourself questions: ‘Where is my daughter going to be? Who takes care of her? What is her phone number if I can’t reach her? Or: ‘Who’s going to be with her?’ she tells me she at the amfAR Cannes Gala at the Hotel du Cap, Eden Roc.

“I’m protective of young girls in the industry,” adds Kurkova, who modeled for lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret when she was 16.

The Czech, who now lives in Miami, has previously revealed her secret to avoiding burnout: having a 13th century Buddha in her apartment and using essential oils.

Both, he says, give him “a sense of peace and well-being.”

“The middle classes know better how to operate in the sector and what should and should not be said,” explains the son of a carpenter from Northern Ireland.

‘I didn’t have much critical ability, I had to develop all that myself… I made a lot of mistakes.

“When you’re working class, you don’t always realize how unprepared you are.”

Lord Ivar Mountbatten put Bridwell Park, his Grade I-listed Georgian house in Devon, up for sale for £5.5 million last month, with one very unusual snag: he and his husband, James Coyle, director of air cabin services at Glasgow, they intended to remain on the property, no matter what.

Fortunately, that detail doesn’t seem to have scared off potential buyers.

“We’ve found a buyer,” he tells me at the DKMS London Gala at the Natural History Museum. “It’s with the lawyers.”

The TV personality, 61, who hit the headlines when she became the first member of the Royal Family to enter into a same-sex marriage, refuses to give further details.

Here’s a baby who should have musical skills when he grows up: Nicola Benedetti has given birth to her first child.

The Ayrshire-born violin virtuoso, 36, refuses to give details, but it is understood that before she was born she quietly married American trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, 26 years her senior.

In March, the Grammy Award winner said she was feeling “positive” and “excited” about the pregnancy.

Jazz star Marsalis has three adult children from two previous relationships and also a teenage daughter.

“We’ve known each other for a long time,” he said. “Wynton first heard me play when he was 17. He had been a fan of Wynton’s music since he was a teenager.”
