Eddie married financial PR Hannah in 2014 after an ’embarrassing’ first meeting while studying at Eton.
He recalled in a 2015 interview: “It was an embarrassing evening. Hannah attended a girls’ school near Eton and they invited some of our boys to a charity fashion show.
“I had to walk topless across the stage – I was a pasty, freckled guy and when I came on the girls in the audience didn’t pay much attention to me, but I was followed by the prettiest boy in the school and all the girls burst into cheers , which caused emotional scars!
“After that I saw Hannah at a party across the room and she was very beautiful and very funny and she likes art and theater like I do, so we became friends.”

The friendship turned into love when he made Les Miserables.
“I had finished rehearsals and was about to start filming in a few days, so I said to myself, ‘I’m going to Florence for a short break and write or do something like that.’
“Before I went, Hannah and I had kind of a date – we’d been good friends for 12 years – and we had a great night and I suddenly said, ‘You don’t want to come with me to Florence next week, do you?’
She said, “That’s absurd, you don’t mean it.” I said, “Yes I do!” So our first real date was in Florence. That was three years ago and we couldn’t be happier.’
