The upcoming wedding of Eddie Murphy’s son to Martin Lawrence’s daughter has sparked a playful war of words between the stars over who will pay for the wedding.
Eric Murphy, 35, and Jasmin Lawrence, 28, announced their engagement last week after more than three years of dating, with actors and longtime friends Murphy, 63, and Lawrence, 59, having the all-important discussion on their children’s big day.
Bad Boys star Lawrence, who is worth an estimated $110 million, revealed he will fund the wedding, instead of dad-of-10 Murphy, who has a $200 million fortune, during a candid chat on Big Boy’s show, Big Boy’s Neighborhood.
Lawrence said: “Eddie says I have to pay for it because he said he paid for his daughter’s wedding, for the last six weddings. He says its my turn now, I don’t mind, I don’t mind..
“It’s a blessing, they’re two beautiful young people.”
He confirmed that the couple has not yet set a date.

The lovebirds shared a video of the proposal on both their Instagram accounts on Saturday.
‘27.11.2024. We are engaged!! God has truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited about this next chapter ,” their caption began.
‘Special thanks to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!’
In the video, Eric led Jasmin into a room full of white rose petals and bouquets of pink and white roses.
The room was lined with candles and had a large red heart on the wall. Eric got down on one knee and proposed and Jasmin said yes!
Earlier this year, Eddie opened up about how he feels about his son dating Martin’s daughter.
The couple started dating in the summer of 2021 and Jasmin shared their relationship in an Instagram post for Eric’s birthday.
And while there are no details here about how they met, it can be assumed that they have known each other for a long time.

Eric and Jasmin celebrated their engagement last week
Their fathers have been friends for years and worked together on the films Boomerang and Life.
“They are both beautiful, they look great together,” the Coming To America star, 63, said.
Murphy and Lawrence even talk about their potential grandchildren.
“And it’s funny, everyone’s like, ‘How funny is that baby going to be?'” said the star of the Netflix sequel to Beverly Hills Cop 4.
He continued and said, “Our gene pool will make this funny baby.”
Eddie made this point clear, adding, “If they ever get married and have a kid, I expect the kid to be funny.”
Eric is the eldest child of Eddie and his ex-girlfriend Paulette McNeely. He is a writer and voice actor.
Jasmin is the eldest daughter of Martin and his ex-wife Patricia Southall. She had a cameo in her father’s most recent film, Bad Boys for Life.
