- Tyson Fury announced on Monday that he is retiring from boxing
- Some feel it is a publicity stunt to improve their position in negotiations to fight AJ.
- Eddie Hearn still has hope that a fight can be made between the two Brits.
Tyson Fury’s latest retirement will have to end within the next month if he is to save a summer fight with Anthony Joshua, according to Eddie Hearn.
While the boxing world has reacted cynically to Fury’s latest claims to have stepped away from the sport, they have raised uncertainty over the prospects of a reunion with Joshua ever materialising, especially in the short term.
Hearn previously revealed he booked dates with Wembley Stadium for May or June to stage the fight, but the window for such a large-scale promotion is closing.
For those plans to have any chance of seeing the light of day, Hearn believes Fury would need to make a U-turn imminently.
He told Mail Sport: “None of us know what Fury will do next, but if we are going to see the fight in the summer, he would probably have to come out of retirement in the next three or four weeks.”
‘After that, the summer becomes difficult for a fight of this size. The future? With a little luck.
Tyson Fury announced his retirement earlier this week, but Eddie Hearn is still hoping to make a U-turn and fight Anthony Joshua.

A fight between Fury and Joshua has been discussed for the last decade, but it never happened.

Hearn believes Fury will have to reverse his decision to retire in the next month to have a fight with Joshua this summer.
“I think he will come back, but it’s in his hands. For AJ, we have options to pursue and we are currently looking at them.”
Of Joshua’s reserve positions, his stated goal would be to face the winner of the IBF world title fight between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker in February.
Meanwhile, Fury has yet to speak publicly since announcing his retirement on Monday, in what was widely perceived as a stunt to improve his position in negotiations.
