Eddie Hearn has labeled the practice fight between Floyd Mayweather and rookie boxer Logan Paul as the “greatest joke I’ve ever seen” – and he also admitted that he was “uncomfortable” promoting YouTube cards.
All-time great Mayweather and Paul fought in a lucrative showdown in Miami, Florida, last month, and no winner was declared after the popular online personality made it all the way in three eight-minute rounds.
News of the fight was greeted with widespread skepticism and disgust from across the boxing world, and Hearn, who shares a similar opinion, has even gone so far as to label the decision to stage the spectacle a “disgrace”.

In doing so, Hearn turned to Sky Sports, his former broadcaster before his multi-million dollar swap with Matchroom Boxing to streaming service DAZN, and ripped into the giants for showing Mayweather and Paul’s showdown.
‘Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul was the biggest joke I’ve ever seen,’ Hearn said talkSPORT. “It was a shame it was even aired to be honest.
“Now when there’s a fight between someone who takes boxing seriously and someone who can fight, I’m talking about Jake Paul versus Tyron Woodley coming up, I’m not offended by it.”
Logan’s younger brother Jake is currently gearing up to face former UFC welterweight champion Woodley on August 29, and Hearn, despite his distaste for the new divisive trend, has praised him for his commitment.
Matchroom Boxing chairman Hearn insisted it was a ‘shame’ that the fight was televised

“Jake’s in the gym, he’s doing the hard sparring, he’s beaten a few fighters, at least UFC fighters, otherwise.” he said.
Both Paul brothers have been at the forefront of the gradual proliferation of YouTube famous faces making the move to boxing, although this has been badly devastated by more traditional viewers of the sport.
Hearn was also initially involved in promoting his first YouTube headline card for the second fight between Logan and KSI in November 2019 – a decision he wanted to defend but now regrets.
“I did Logan Paul against KSI, two guys who can’t really fight at that professional level, but it was a 50/50,” Hearn added.
YouTube star Jake Paul, who has praised Hearn, will face Tyron Woodley in the ring on August 29
“We sold out the Staples Center, we made millions of purchases worldwide through pay-per-view.
“But I did feel uncomfortable, to be honest.”
Jake, meanwhile, has continued his relentless campaign to call out Conor McGregor as he continues his pursuit of a boxing match between them.
“I think it’s going to happen. Look, I mean, I’m the money fight for Conor McGregor now,” Paul said The herd.
Hearn was initially involved in the YouTube scene before Paul’s fight with KSI in November 2019
“There isn’t another fighter at a higher level right now than me who calls out Conor McGregor and wants to fight Conor.
“Our team is in contact with his team and there are rumors that it will actually happen.
“And people at first thought I was just kidding when I said I wanted to fight him.
“But now it’s as real as it gets, it’s more real than ever and besides, if we fight, I’ll knock him out.”
