Time out: the singer recently announced that he would take a breather from music after non-stop touring since 2017
‘The [third album] Divide time and tour have changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s time to go outside and see more of the world.
‘I’ve been a bit non-stop since 2017, so I’m just going to breathe for traveling, writing and reading. I’m off all social media until it’s time to come back.
‘For my family and friends, see you soon when I see you – and for my fans, thank you for always being great, I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I have lived a little more to have something to write about. Lots of love x [sic]”
He also changed his profile photo to the letters “BRB” and removed the illustrations for his album Divide.

“I have had such a great ride in the last five years, but I notice that I see the world through a screen and not my eyes, so I take the opportunity that I don’t have to be anywhere or do anything to travel world and see everything I have missed. “
As he returned to social media, Ed finally quit Twitter altogether – leaving behind 18.9 million followers. His last tweet was in July of that year and his Twitter bio is now simple: “I no longer use this, please follow me on teddy photos on Instagram, lots of love x”
Ed’s decision to leave Instagram comes after he admits that he was the target of trolling because he was ‘fat’.
The Take Me Back To London crooner sheds four stones, slimming from 16 to 12 stones after people pointed out that he had piled a few pounds, but he believes they only did this because they felt ‘insecure’.
About the podcast Behind The Medal, he said: “I’ve never had any insecurities and people pointed to it – your brain is starting to think about it.
‘It all comes from the uncertainties of others. So many people have things they are unsure about, which makes them feel better about pointing out someone else.
“Because half of the people who say I am fat are probably fat themselves.”
