Comedian Ed Kavalee has been mocked on Have You Been Paying Attention for his dismissal from 2Day FM

Comedian Ed Kavalee has been the subject of mockery on Have You Been Paying Attention? over his highly publicised sacking from 2Day FM.

Ed, 45, was sensationally axed from the radio station last week alongside his Hughesy, Ed and Erin co-stars Dave Hughes, 53, and Erin Molan, 40.

Appearing on the Channel Ten comedy show on Tuesday, Ed gave the camera death glares as his current employment situation was mercilessly mocked.

Host Tom Gleisner, 61, kicked off the contest by using Ed’s latest professional setback as a test question.

“What a big week for the 2Day FM Breakfast team in Sydney. What have you just announced?” the presenter asked mischievously.

Comedian Felicity Ward, 43, jokingly suggested the trio had revealed an unconventional relationship.

“They’ve formed a threesome,” Felicity joked.

Not to leave the matter at that, fellow comedian Kitty Flanagan, 56, elicited laughter from the panel and studio audience.

“This one was special,” he said. “They met their only listener.”

Ed was clearly not impressed by the taunts in the air, giving a dirty look and slowly shaking his head as he endured the comical banter.

Logies presenter Sam Pang, 50, delivered the final blow, suggesting the former radio trio had finally revealed their “secret sound”.

“They announced the secret sound,” he said. “It was the sound of listeners changing stations.”

Hughesy’s breakfast show Ed and Erin was sensationally cancelled last week amid soaring ratings and “commitment issues”.

The show managed a mere 3.6% market share in the latest ratings survey.

2Day FM announced the news last Wednesday night, informing listeners that they had opted to cancel the show and replace it with lovable nightshift pranksters Jimmy Smith and Nath Roye, who currently host The Jimmy and Nath Show.

“We have loved our time together on 2DayFM Breakfast, however, due to some of our families living in different cities, we are unable to commit until 2025, so it is with a heavy heart that we are stepping aside so that 2DayFM can find the team to take them forward on Breakfast,” Hughsey, Ed and Erin said in a statement.

‘We are so grateful to Sydney for their support, and doubling our listenership in three years is something we are immensely proud of, and we will miss each and every one of them.’

The announcement comes after rumours that Dave is preparing to reunite with Kate Langbroek, 58, to reboot their popular show Hughesy and Kate.

The couple last hosted the popular Hit FM show in 2019, before Kate stepped away from the show to move to Italy.

In July, the Herald Sun reported that Melbourne is abuzz with rumours that Kate and Dave are preparing to bring back the show.

The publication reported last week that the popular comedian had been courted, along with Kate, to take over Triple M Melbourne’s breakfast slot.
