A group of Chicago teens who staged a car heist at a Range Rover dealership and made off with the vehicles are being pursued by law enforcement.

Nine teenagers carried out the robbery at a Jaguar-Land Rover dealership in Waukesha and were able to steal nine high-end cars, allegedly valued at more than $500,000 on February 18.

The suspects broke into the dealership around 6 a.m., found the keys and then activated the key fobs to find the cars, which they then stole, according to Waukesha Police Capt. Dan Baumann.

CCTV footage from inside the dealership shows four of the young men, all dressed in black, including masks and hats, running into the store.

‘A stolen vehicle arrives at the dealership, a minivan. They opened the service door and nine subjects walked around the place looking for keys.

“One person finds out where the keys were hidden and then starts handing them to his friend,” Baumann said. WISN12.

Authorities said that while eight of the vehicles belonged to the dealership, the ninth was a customer’s car.

One of the suspects, an unidentified 17-year-old, was arrested the same day in a town called Pleasant Prairie after the stolen vehicle he was driving crashed on the interstate during the chase.

He is being held in the Waukesha County Jail on $50,000 bail and has been charged with robbery, theft and criminal damage to property.

So far, police have been able to recover six of the nine stolen vehicles: four in the city of Chicago, one in the Chicago suburb of Deerfield and one in Wisconsin.

Baumann believes that the heist was a strategic and, most likely, professional job. He further said: ‘We believe this is an organized criminal group of teenagers from the Chicago area.

This wasn’t just a group of kids who decided to stay up late one night playing video games and say, “Hey, let’s see if the nine of us can travel two hours away to commit crimes.”

“Because that’s not something that normally happens.”

Authorities are still investigating the case and trying to identify the other eight suspects.
