eBay removes Kobe and Gianna merchandise after sellers have tried to get thousands of items from the service

Monday’s public service memorabilia held for Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were removed from eBay after several people tried to take advantage of the family tragedy.

The online company said they are reaching out to sellers to explain that shirts, pins, programs and other items from the sold-out Staples Center service cannot be sold on eBay.

An XL shirt had already been sold for more than $ 2,000. According to TMZ, having received an email sent to one seller, eBay has informed people of their position within the last 24 hours.

“Please note, due to the sudden and tragic death of Kobe Bryant, eBay has decided to prohibit the sale of merchandise, images, and mugs related to their death,” the email reads.

The company also explained that they “do not allow offers that seek to take advantage of human tragedies or suffering.”

Several items have been sold for thousands since Bryant, Gianna and seven others died in a helicopter crash on January 26 in California.

In one example, just a few days after the crash, an NBA legend basketball card sold in a private market for $ 50,000.

Monday’s service was full of sweet memories, laughter and many tears as Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, and various other WNBA and NBA legends entered the stage to honor the deceased father-daughter duo.

Beyoncé opened the memorial service with passionate performances of her hits XO and Halo.

After her performance, an emotional Jimmy Kimmel came on stage. He told the audience that today it was about “gratitude.” Kimmel said the world “could be grateful for the time we had with them.”

The host later introduced Vanessa, whom Bryant called her “soulmate” and Gianna her “baby girl.”

“To my soulmate,” Vanessa said before describing the NBA legend as a loving husband and devoted father with a tender heart who was “the MVP of girl fathers.”

She said the world saw Kobe as a celebrity and basketball legend – the Black Mamba – but for her he was her best friend and protector.

“He was my everything,” said Vanessa, recalling to meet Bryant when she was 17 years old. “He was the most wonderful husband.”

She fought tears when she described Gianna as a sweet, thoughtful soul who loved to kiss her mother good morning and goodnight.

Vanessa said Gianna loved swimming, singing along with songs, baking cookies and watching ‘Survivor’ and NBA games with her father.

She says the 13-year-old loved basketball so much that she even gave advice to the boys’ basketball team.

Vanessa predicted that Gianna could have become ‘the best player in the WNBA’.
