Nancy was run over by her half-sister Frankie (Rose Ayling-Ellis) when she was distracted by a drunk Zack during a driving lesson.

Mick was furious when Frankie confessed that Zack had lied about his involvement in the hit-and-run, forcing Nancy to fight for her life.

James recently spoke with digital spy about Zack and Frankie’s handling of the hit-and-run.

He thought, “When characters do things you personally wouldn’t do, it’s hard to empathize with them.

“Zack is definitely doing something in his reaction to the crash that I as James wouldn’t do.

“That’s why he struggles and that’s why it’s hard to play that – but how often do you run into someone? And how do you make decisions based on that?’

Eastenders airs tonight at 9.05pm on BBC1.
