EastEnders fans praise ‘best episode ever’ for tackling racially aggravated murder as George Knight uncovers shocking family secrets

EastEnders fans have praised the soap for tackling the racially aggravated murder in what has been hailed as the “best episode of all time”.

During recent episodes, viewers have seen George Knight, played by Colin Salmon, discover the truth about his family in a series of shocking revelations.

After a visit from his adoptive mother, Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell), he learns the truth about his heritage and discovers that his adoption was part of a child rearing process in which his birth parents paid Gloria and Eddie to care for him. .

In another twist, George Discover’s Eddie (Christopher Fairbank)’s recent subtleties have been part of a ploy to persuade him to provide a witness when Eddie’s friend Gerald lets slip that “the jury will love him.”

After pressing Gerald for answers, he learns that his adoptive father is facing trial for a racially motivated murder that took place years ago.

Eddie and his friends are accused of beating a man named Henry Kofi Asare to death while hurling racial slurs at him.

George recalled the racism he had experienced as a child and how his father had never supported him.

Asking his father to own up to his mistakes, George grabs his father’s hands and he yells, “Get your dirty hands off me!”

It soon turns out that Henry Kofi Asare was George’s biological father and was killed by Eddie after threatening to get his son back.

Praising the episode, fans of the soap shared their thoughts on X: ‘Tonight’s #Eastenders is absolutely incredible. “The acting, the turns, was just phenomenal in every way and amazing job by @colinsalmon24,” one posted.

Before her appearance on the soap opera, actress Elizabeth said Meter: ‘I can honestly say it has been an absolute joy. The cast and crew behind the scenes of EastEnders are brilliant and have been so welcoming.

‘Colin and I worked together before, and who would have thought I would be playing his mother almost thirty years later!’

Christopher added how excited he was to be part of the EastEnders cast.

He said: “Everyone has been so welcoming and it has been fantastic to meet and work with the brilliant actors involved in the show.”
