A woman has died and a major investigation is underway after a home’s ceiling collapsed during a DIY renovation went tragically wrong.
The 64-year-old was in the kitchen of her rural home in East Nanango, Queensland, when the ceiling suddenly collapsed on Monday.
The collapse pinned her under the rubble of the property on South Kerton Street, located 203km northwest of the state capital, Brisbane.
Emergency services arrived at the home at 1.30pm and attempted to extricate the woman from the rubble.

Paramedics performed CPR but could not save her.
Aerial shots taken by 9News showed that the roof of the house still looked intact from the outside.
The police are preparing a report for the Queensland State Coroner.
