‘I’m off the bench’: Eamonn Holmes reveals he will be last-minute stand-in for Vernon Kay on This Morning after presenter tests positive for Covid
Eamonn Holmes has announced he will replace Vernon Kay on This Morning after the presenter tested positive for Covid.
Vernon, 47, was due to co-host the hit morning show next week with Rochelle Humes, and TV bosses had to “clamber up” to find a replacement, as Alison Hammond was also ill.
Saving the day, Eamonn tweeted on Sunday: “But just when you thought you were rid of me….sickness with @AlisonHammond and @vernonkay means I’m off the couch. Get well soon, but I’ve got my Boots on and I’m ready to play. Monday and Tuesday lineup is now myself and @RochelleHumes. I hope you can join us.’
The presenter, 61, hosted the show over the summer with wife Ruth Langsford as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield took their annual six-week break.
It comes after Vernon said he was “absolutely gutted” that he had to miss the guest presentation.
He told The sun: ‘I am very disappointed that due to a positive Covid test I can no longer present on This Morning with Rochelle next week.’

Vernon added: ‘Nor [can I] do Radio 2 guest hosting and Steve Wright’s cover, two iconic shows I’ve been a fan of for decades.’
MailOnline has reached out to Vernon’s representatives for further comment.
ITV bosses are now forced to find a last minute replacement for Vernon, with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield not returning from their summer break until next month.
