The presenter, who last week said he was “living on borrowed time”, sparked concern among viewers after suddenly disappearing midway through a 7.45am interview with parliamentary undersecretary of state for mental health Maria Caulfield.

Eamonn remained silent throughout the interview with Caulfield, leaving his co-presenter Isabel Webster to ask the questions, before he walked off screen. Isabel presented the final 90 minutes of the programme alone without explaining Eamonn’s absence.

A GB News spokesperson told MailOnline that the star was forced to leave early due to ill health, explaining: “Eamonn had to finish a little early today as he was not feeling well. He hopes to be back tomorrow.”

A friend added that Eamonn, 64, was in good spirits despite having to go home early.

Eamonn spoke about his health problems at last week’s TRIC Awards, an industry event that also marked his first public appearance since splitting from wife Ruth Langsford.

The star has had a tough year and admitted at Tuesday’s party that she feels like she’s living on “borrowed time” because her father died aged 65 from a fatal heart attack.

Eamonn was seen arriving at the awards in a wheelchair as he suffers from chronic back pain and is undergoing painful physiotherapy sessions.

In January, he said the “harsh reality” may be that he may never be able to walk alone again without assistance.

Meanwhile, Ruth is said to be dealing with “agonising guilt” over her estranged husband’s health problems.

Claims have emerged that Ruth is torn between helping Eamonn and moving on with her life. A source told Bella magazine that Ruth feels “terribly guilty” and that seeing recent photos of her ex looking “frail has been torture for her”.

“While she has every right to live her life and do what is best for her, she is convinced the public will see her abandoning Eamonn in his time of need while he struggles with his health,” the source explained this week.

Eamonn previously praised Ruth for her “amazing” support after he suffered a fall down the stairs at his home in November 2022.

In 2016, the star underwent a double hip replacement operation lasting three and a quarter hours after living with acute pain for many years.

Then in 2018, Eamonn detailed his battle with shingles and how he caught the virus on his son Declan’s wedding day.

Her years of chronic back pain began in the spring of 2021, completely unexpectedly. The pain became so intense that she had to rely on a cane to walk, but she soon discovered the root cause.

Eamonn made his first public appearance since news of his shocking divorce at Tuesday’s TRIC Awards and shocked fans when he admitted he is living on “borrowed time”.

He eventually discovered that he had three herniated discs that were affecting the movement of his right leg.

In September 2022, Eamonn was forced to step away from his GB news show due to undergoing vital back surgery to relieve his chronic back pain.

Then, in November 2022, he suffered a horrific accident that caused him to fall down some stairs at his home in Surrey, resulting in a fractured shoulder weeks after his massive spinal surgery.

Shortly before the divorce, Ruth said she “lives in hope” that her mobility will improve.

Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, Ruth said: “I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We’re hopeful.”

“He does the physical therapy, but you may have to accept that this will never be 100% right. In any caregiving situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it’s not always easy. It’s a test, but we manage as a family.”

Ruth added: “I look at Eamonn, who has had health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is.”

Speaking about his troubles earlier this year, Eamonn himself said: “It’s like someone up there is playing with my life. Last year I had back surgery and was confined to a wheelchair.

“I fell and broke my shoulder. Honestly, you couldn’t get it back.”

She added: “I’ve tried all the treatments, but I just have to keep going. I may never get over this,” which is a harsh reality to face.

Eamonn admitted he didn’t even know if he would be able to attend the annual TRIC Awards on Tuesday, but his new high-tech kit has allowed him to feel more comfortable.
