One told MailOnline: ‘Ruth and her team have been telling their friends to keep an eye out for the comments, which they plan to post on social media.

‘It is a very unfortunate story. Both are so loved by the British public that they won over so many people on This Morning, which they presented for more than a decade.

“They were as close as you could get to Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan.”

The couple, who live in Surrey, have sparked many rumors throughout the entertainment industry in recent months by not appearing together on their individual Instagram accounts.

Eamonn and Ruth married in 2010, after 13 years together, in a lavish ceremony at the grand 19th century Hampshire hotel, The Elvetham.

The couple are parents to son Jack, 22, while Eamonn also has sons Declan, 35, Niall, 31, and daughter Rebecca, 33, from his previous marriage.

Their split comes just days after Ruth revealed she fears Eamonn will “never be 100 per cent right” after undergoing back surgery due to suffering from chronic back pain for almost two years.

The GB News breakfast presenter is still recovering from surgery and a shoulder injury, which saw him miss work for four months at the end of last year.

He has daily physiotherapy sessions and uses a cane or a wheelchair to get around, with the support of his ex-wife Ruth.

Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, Ruth said: “I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope.

“He plays the physio, but you may have to accept that this will never be 100% correct.” Any caregiving situation (and there are millions of caregivers in this country) is not always easy. “It’s a test, but we did it as a family.”

Ruth added: “I look at Eamonn, who has had health problems and back problems, and it makes you realize how important your health is.”

On her big day, Ruth walked down the aisle in a dress and matching headpiece by Italian designer Angelina Colarusso.

The newlyweds were joined by famous friends including Royle Family star Sue Johnston, TV presenters Gloria Hunniford, Amanda Lamb and Jeremy Kyle, EastEnders actress Zoe Lucker and former boxing champion Barry McGuigan .

Writing on his Twitter page at the time, the proud groom confirmed: “Sorry if Ruth and I have been a little quiet these last few days… but we’ve been a little preoccupied – we got married yesterday.”

“Although it was a really beautiful day, even the sun was eclipsed by my beautiful girlfriend, who I love even more than before.”

Eamonn gushed about his girlfriend in the new issue of Hello! magazine, which obtained exclusive photos from his special day.

He told the magazine: ‘Ruth was the missing piece in my life. I was destined to get married.

“She is a wonderful mum to Jack, a fantastic partner both personally and professionally and now, I am proud to say, she is my beautiful wife.”

Ruth, who regularly presents Loose Women, enthuses: ‘Our relationship is very passionate. We’re like Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.

“Although we argue and argue, ultimately our love for each other and the bond we share is very strong.”

Eamonn and Ruth also presented This Morning together for 14 years and were regulars on the show both on Fridays and during school holidays.

However, in 2020, the pair were removed from their Friday slot and replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

A source close to the couple said at the time that they were “more upset than angry” about being booted from the show.

Eamonn has since hosted GB News’ Breakfast Show, while Ruth has been a regular panelist and presenter on Loose Women since 1999.
