The Philadelphia Eagles struggled a lot at the end of last season. They lost six of their last seven games and looked terrible in every aspect of the game.
It had been about eight months since their last game, but they picked up where they left off in the first quarter.
The Eagles’ first possession ended with Jalen Hurts throwing a bad interception in the middle of the field. He didn’t expect Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney to be in position to intercept the ball, but he was and the Eagles fumbled in their own territory. Hurts ended last season on a losing streak and that wasn’t the best way to start a new season.
The Eagles’ woes didn’t improve on their second drive. In their first game since center Jason Kelce retired, center Cam Jurgens threw a shotgun snap that blindsided Hurts, bounced off him and the Packers took the fumble. Another Packers possession began in Philadelphia territory. It looked like a miscommunication between the center and the quarterback.
The Packers ended up settling for field goals after both turnovers despite their great field position, proving that the lack of punctuality at the start of the game in Brazil was not unique to the Eagles.
That’s how the Eagles wanted to start a new season. It seemed too similar to the end of last season.
