EA Sports aims to add NFTs to its games in collaboration with Nike

Date:

EA Sports and Nike Virtual Studios have announced a new partnership aimed at adding Nike SWOOSH virtual creations, also known as NFTs, to future EA Sports games.

EA announced the news at her blog “Nike’s new partnership with EA SPORTS will look at building new immersive experiences and unlocking entirely new levels of personalization within the EA SPORTS ecosystem,” she said.

Details of how this will play out in future ES Sports games aren’t clear, but a short video on Twitter from SWOOSH imagines what players can expect.

SWOOSH uses encrypted polygons to secure virtual Nike creations, the example in the video above shows a black soccer helmet with the Nike logo and a purple visor. The helmet appears on some kind of digital card that says when it was purchased and the unique ID that the Virtual Creation has.

This indicates that this item is unique and associated with a specific person, who, in theory, will be able to use it in a future Madden game. The video also includes branded soccer balls along with three different balls which seems to indicate that this feature might work well with EA Sports FC, the soccer game formerly known as FIFA.
