Fans walk out of Irish comedian Dylan Moran’s New Zealand show after he came on stage ‘drunk’, knocked his microphone over and threw things on stage: ‘He was trollyed’

Several people walked out of Dylan Moran’s comedy show in New Zealand over the weekend after the famous Irish comedian reportedly appeared on stage “drunk”.

Moran, 51, kicked off his tour at the Isaac Theater Royal in Christchurch on Saturday.

Audience member Rebecca Mackle told Stuff.co.nz that Dylan was “incoherent” during the stand-up routine.

‘It was really disappointing. He was mumbling and incoherent, and he kept losing his train of thought. He would start a joke and lose his spot,” she said.

“He seemed disconnected from his body. He flipped his microphone and threw his jacket across the stage.

She said Dylan told the crowd he was suffering from a “relapse”.

“He told us he had relapsed with his drinking. After that, it wasn’t funny anymore. No one was laughing, it was just sad. He was drunk as a skunk,” she said.

“A lot of comedians are a little messed up. But he hadn’t just had a few drinks, he was transported.

Rebecca said she and other members of the public left early.

Dylan, who was known for smoking and drinking on stage while delivering his comedic routines, opened up about ditching the two on The Project in 2019.

“It became like a job. It’s honestly what it was. It was like hitting the clock. Let’s go (he mimes opening a drink) I was just bored, you know, he said.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Dylan for comment.

Dylan is best known for his stand-up work and for his appearances on the British sitcom Black Books.
