Gwyneth Paltrow admitted to her Instagram followers during an Instagram Q&A on Thursday that she’s had Botox — which was both “successful and unsuccessful.”
The 51-year-old Goop founder — who recently spoke about ex Chris Martin’s longtime partner Dakota Johnson — was asked by one of her fans, “Have you ever tried Botox?”
In response to the question, the Oscar winner wrote on her Instagram stories: ‘God yes. I’m afraid of both success and failure.’
Another social media user asked the actress, “How does your skin look so good?” with Paltrow saying that she is very “diligent with my skin care.”
The star has been open about her skin care and her opinions when it comes to aging over the years.

While you’re talking to Refinery29 in 2020, the Iron Man actress revealed: ‘In the past I have never said that I will not do plastic or cosmetic surgery because I think it is important to remain honest about the fact that we all change as we age. ‘
Although she doesn’t currently use Botox, Gwyneth has admitted to using another injectable called Xeomin, which is also FDA-approved and labeled as the “naked injectable.”
“I never want to look younger or not like myself,” the businesswoman told the outlet at the time.
She then recalled, “When I turned 40, I had some sort of midlife crisis and had anti-wrinkle injections all over my face, and it was horrible.”
‘I looked terrible – one eye was actually higher than the other – and it was definitely a big mistake, but thankfully a temporary mistake.’
On the topic of cosmetic surgery, she said Harper’s Bazaar‘I like it when women share, because there is a lot of shame around operations or injectables or fillers, and it would be nice if people had confidence in the choices they make.’
‘But if they want to have a beauty secret, that’s fine too. I am an open book. I shared what works for me because that’s how I’ve always learned.”
Gwyneth also discussed her skincare routine and treatments she prefers while she chatted Fashion earlier this year in July.

Routine: Gwyneth also discussed her skincare routine and treatments she prefers during a chat with Vogue earlier this year in July. “I really like a facial massage, (lymphatic drainage) and working out the muscles, as opposed to lasers,” she said

The star then revealed: ‘I’m a little scared of using lasers on the face, and I’ve seen strange results in certain people. It feels risky.”
‘Every now and then I do a facial with red light for inflammation or something like that. At Goop we also sell the Lyma Laser, which is really good and gentle, so I’m going to do that.’
Paltrow additionally opened up about “her approach” to aging, saying, “I think it’s a cultural problem (that women seem to be judged more for aging than men).”
She continued, “It’s not ours! As women we want to be healthy, we want to grow older. The idea that we should be frozen in time is so strange.”
The Emma actress later added: “I think we want to be an example of how to grow older. Every woman should do it the way she wants.”
‘Some women want to do everything aesthetically, and some women want to be a fantastic French grandmother who never does anything. Everyone should be given the power to do it however they want,” Gwyneth said.
The star’s wellness and lifestyle brand Goop, which launched in 2008, also sells products focused on skin care.
Some items include the $150 Youth-Boost Peptide Serum and the Life + Depuff Eye Masks, which cost $125.
During Thursday’s Q&A, a fan also asked about her relationship with Dakota Johnson, the actress who has been working with Paltrow’s ex, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, since 2017.

Paltrow said, “We’re actually really good friends. I love her so much. She’s a cute, wonderful person.”
The question came just as both Johnson and Martin celebrated Johnson’s 34th birthday together on Thursday evening.
Gwyneth and the singer were notably married from 2003 until their divorce was finalized in 2016. They share children Apple, 19, and Moses, 17.
