Duncan James has revealed that he has been subjected to shockingly homophobic abuse from so-called fans who are “ having a hard time accepting ” that he is gay.

The Blue singer, 43, revealed that he has been told he is ‘disgusting’ and that he will ‘go to hell’ because of his gay relationship with Rodrigo Reis, 27.

Speak against OK! Magazine, he admitted that it ‘took a while’ to come out, but after 10 years, he is finally starting to feel ‘really comfortable’ in his own skin.

He said: ‘A lot of my fans in the UK have really supported me, but I have a lot of international fans who still have a hard time accepting that I am gay.

“Rodrigo and I posted a photo and there were some bad comments, like,” It’s disgusting – look you two. You’re going to hell. ”

Duncan met Brazilian hunk Rodrigo two years ago in Belgium while performing with Blue there.

The star, who shares 16-year-old daughter Tianie with ex-girlfriend Claire Grainger, came out as bisexual in 2009 before confirming he was gay in 2017.

Before coming out, Duncan had romances with Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Geri Horner, who he said was ‘cool’ when he told her he’s gay.

During the interview, Duncan also revealed that he sought therapy during lockdown after divorcing his partner, who lives in Belgium, and his daughter, who was in Manchester.

Duncan started talking to an online therapist after he got ‘a little depressed’ and said it ‘really helped’ and ‘it was nice to have someone to talk to.’

He added: ‘It was just an accumulation of things. We’ve all struggled with our sanity, especially this latest lockdown. It has been difficult. I got to a point where I said to Rodrigo, “I feel like I don’t have anyone to talk to. I can’t escape, I can’t do anything. It’s awful.” ‘

Last month, the former Hollyoaks actor revealed he had injected filler into his jaw to make it firmer ahead of Blue’s 20th anniversary reunion.
