Dave Hughes seemed quite depressed when he took to the tennis court to hit on Tuesday.
The comedian, whose radio show was axed from 2DayFM in August, looked dejected as he spent the warm day meeting a friend in Melbourne.
Hughesy, 54, showed off his athletic prowess in a red T-shirt and black Nike gym shorts.
To protect himself from the sun, the comedian shielded his face with a black cap and stayed alert in a pair of black sneakers.
He also appeared to be tracking his outdoor workout with a smartwatch.
It’s been a year of mixed luck for Dave after his Hughesy, Ed & Erin 2DayFM breakfast show sensationally came to an end in August amid rising ratings and “commitment issues”.

2Day FM announced the dismissal of its presenting trio on August 8, informing listeners that they had opted to pull the plug on the show and replace it with night shift larrikins Jimmy Smith and Nath Roye, who hosted The Jimmy and Nath Show.
The announcement came that night and the beleaguered presenters were given one more show the next morning to finish, but decided not to return to the air.
“We loved our time together on 2DayFM Breakfast, however, due to some of our families living in different cities, we cannot commit until 2025,” Hughsey, Ed and Erin said in a statement.
“So it is with a heavy heart that we are stepping aside so 2DayFM can find the team to take them forward on Breakfast.”
The show, hosted by Dave, Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan, managed a market share of just 3.6 in the latest ratings survey.
Millions of dollars were reportedly spent to save the long-running radio show, but nothing could be done to keep it on the airwaves.
According to radio insiders, the departure “came late” for the trio and their plummet in ratings was the “final nail in the coffin.”
“SCA (Southern Cross Austereo) has spent millions trying to make this show a success, including Hughesy moving from Melbourne to try to ‘connect’ more with Sydney listeners living there, but still has always had trouble finding an audience,” one radio source said Yahoo Lifestyle.
Hughesy, 54, showed off his athletic prowess in a red T-shirt and black Nike gym shorts.
“They brought in a new executive producer at the beginning of the year, who was poached from KIIS, but even that wasn’t enough and no one is surprised he’s now been dumped.”
Southern Cross Austereo went on to thank radio hosts for their “passion and commitment” following the announcement.
“We are incredibly grateful to Hughesy, Ed and Erin for their unwavering dedication to making the 2DayFM breakfast show a fun way to wake up Sydney every morning since 2020, and we wish them the best as they continue their outstanding careers,” he said SCA Content Director Dave Cameron.
“Looking ahead to 2025, we are preparing for a change to the 2DayFM Sydney Breakfast program and will make further announcements in due course.”
The Jimmy & Nath Show has been temporarily moved to breakfast time.
The announcement followed rumors that Hughes will reunite with Kate Langbroek, 58, to reboot their popular show Hughesy and Kate.
The pair last presented the popular Hit FM show in 2019, before Langbroek took a step back from the show to move to Italy.
In July, the Herald Sun reported that Melbourne is plagued with rumors that Langbroek and Hughes are preparing to bring back the show.

Meanwhile, Hughes recently appeared as a guest on Triple M’s The Rush Hour in Melbourne, which was a big hit with listeners.
Hughes and Langbroek first teamed up in 2001 for Nova 100’s breakfast show in Melbourne.
Langbroek currently co-hosts the popular podcast The Buck Up with Nath Valvo after leaving her last commercial radio gig at KIIS FM The Pick Up two years ago.
She teased a possible radio reunion with Hughes last year.
“We are full of love for each other and nothing is ruled out for us,” he told Herald of the sun last August.
‘I love Hughesy. I’m not doing radio right now, but I will always love radio because it’s such a natural medium for me.
Furthermore, Hughesy is preparing for his stand-up tour next year.
The comedian has a series of shows in Australia’s major capital cities between February and June, while heading to several regional locations between May and November 2025.
