The Duke of Edinburgh, who celebrated his 99th birthday last month, attended the Windsor ceremony in a rare public appearance since his official retirement in August 2017.

In an official photo released today, Prince Philip stood next to his 73-year-old wife in an elegant dark-colored suit, a white shirt and a striped tie, beaming to the newly married couple.

Like her husband, the Queen appeared in excellent spirits when they left the service, and she looked brilliant mint green for the occasion.

The couple posed with Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi outside the Royal Chapel of All Saints, on the grounds of the home of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Royal Lodge, in Windsor Great Park.

Prince Philip seemed to be in good health and standing next to Queen Elizabeth without help despite recent periods of ill health.

This is only the Duke’s second official photo since the beginning of the year, although rumors of his health have persisted since he was hospitalized shortly before Christmas due to a pre-existing medical condition.

Prince Philip spent four nights in hospital in December for what royal officials describe as ‘observation and treatment’.

The “precaution” and unspecified condition renewed concerns about the Duke’s health as he neared his 100-year milestone.

Philip has made few public appearances since he officially retired in 2017, although he released a message thanking the medical community during the COVID pandemic.

Before that, the Duke of Edinburgh had successful hip surgery at the private King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, central London, in 2018, shortly before the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

In January 2019, Philip emerged unharmed after his vehicle was involved in a traffic accident that injured two people near the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

The couple isolate themselves in Windsor and, reportedly, would not have seen family members prior to the wedding since the lock began in mid-March.

Philip celebrated a quiet birthday party last month by sharing a special lunch with the Queen.

The Queen has now seen six of her eight grandchildren get married.

She and Prince Philip have been isolated in their Windsor hometown since the beginning of the closure, allowing them to spend more time together than they have in ‘many years’, an expert noted.

To mark the Duke’s milestone birthday last month, the royal family released a photo of a new photo of the couple standing side by side in the square of Windsor Castle.

In April, Prince Philip retired to say a big thank you to the key employees who ensure that “the infrastructure of our lives continues” in the coronavirus pandemic.

The Duke of Edinburgh said he would like to acknowledge the “vital and urgent” medical and scientific work that is taking place to fight the deadly virus.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said the country would be inspired by Philip’s words.

The Duke of Edinburgh spent much of his retirement in his cottage, Wood Farm, in the sanctuary of the Sandringham Estate, more than 100 miles from the Queen, who was usually at Buckingham Palace or Windsor.

But they were reunited at Berkshire Castle for their safety four months ago after Philip flew there by helicopter prior to its closure on March 19.

Joe Little, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, said, “This must be the longest they’ve had under the same roof for years, I would say. But it is an opportunity for them in their later years to reconnect. ‘

He added, “It’s the perfect royal cocooning.”

Royal expert Camilla Tominey agreed that this is ‘arguably’ the most time the Queen has spent with her husband in recent years.

About this morning she said, “They’ll be there in the near future. It’s quite fun in a way that they are together when they normally wouldn’t have been this time of year. ‘

She added that next year the Queen will send Prince Philip a telegram for his 100th birthday.

“They are planning the 100th birthday for now, of course she will give him a telegram, which is what she does when people turn 100,” said Camilla.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh reside in a reduced household of about 20 servants, called Operation HMS Bubble, and Mr. Little said the Prince and Philip most likely eat lunch or dinner together each day while devoting other time to their separate interests.

Philip is engaged in reading, writing and painting, and even released a rare public statement – his first since retirement – even in April, in which he praised key employees and those who kept essential services running during the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to enjoying riding her fallen ponies in Windsor Home Park, the Queen – the longest-reigning monarch in the country – has her official duties, including her red boxes of papers and a regular phone call.

The royal couple has been depicted in Windsor over the years, including on the grounds of the castle over 1959 in 1959, accompanied by Sugar, one of many royal corgis.

The success of the long-term marriage of the Queen and Philip is often attributed to their different personalities.

In 2007, the couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary by traveling to Malta, where they had lived for a short time as a young couple.

In 2012, they marked their blue sapphire anniversary – 65 years – and in 2017, they passed the rare, personal milestone of 70 years of marriage – their platinum wedding anniversary.
