Pop star Dua Lipa defiantly told the Mail on Sunday yesterday: “I don’t mime” after fans accused her of lip-syncing during her headline performance at Glastonbury.
The 28-year-old’s dream come true was to play on the world-famous Pyramid Stage. But his performance in front of tens of thousands of fans on Friday was dogged by accusations that he didn’t actually sing on stage.
However, when our reporter caught up with her in the VIP area yesterday, she ignored the criticism.
“I don’t mime,” the Grammy winner said as she toasted her headline-making success with actor boyfriend Callum Turner, 34, at an exclusive bar on the Worthy Farm festival grounds.
The couple were seen cuddling up after arriving from their luxury hotel ten miles from Glastonbury.

When our reporter asked her if she sang her songs live during the performance, she denied imitating her set list.
One fan described Lipa’s Pyramid Stage performance as “a Top of the Pops mime set”

Another fan complained that fans had paid money only for Ms Lipa to “make the song and not even sing it”.
She wore a white tank top with a black skirt and carried a crystal-encrusted satin Prada bag that cost £1,600. She paired the look with chunky black boots.
The singer was accused of lip-syncing by those who watched the BBC’s coverage of the festival on Friday night.
“Imagine paying all that money to go to Glastonbury and just standing there watching Dua Lipa mime the song and not even sing it. What a shame,” said one.
Another wrote online: ‘Dua Lipa performing a mime show for Top of the Pops.’
On X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: ‘It’s a shame #DuaLipa can’t sing live. Don’t show up with glasto and mime. Trash.’
Another said: “Dua Lipa has some decent catchy tunes but I’m pretty sure she’s lip syncing.” It sounds like a live vocal but I’m not convinced she’s singing it live “right now.”
Informed sources say the mime claim is false.
During Ms Lipa’s performance, there were numerous large Palestinian flags so close to the stage that they were seen both on the venue’s giant screens and on BBC coverage.
The singer previously urged world leaders to help reduce the crisis in Gaza and Israel.
While he did not directly comment on the war during his performance, which included hit songs such as Levitating, he appeared to run into the crowd to sing closer to a flag that read ‘Glasto for Palestine.’
Last month, she posted to her 88 million Instagram followers: “Please show solidarity with Gaza.”
“Burning children alive can never be justified. The entire world is mobilizing to stop the Israeli genocide. Please show solidarity with Gaza,” she wrote on Instagram.
Many viewers were captivated by the singer’s two-hour performance at Glastonbury and took to social media to call her performance “magical”.
‘Dua Lipa killed it’ and ‘Dua Lipa’s been pretty good actually. I only know One Kiss, but her voice is better than I thought it would be. I hope to see her on the Sunday afternoon legend slot in about 25 years.’
Dua said she had dreamed of headlining Glastonbury Festival “all my life” as she opened the Pyramid Stage.
The pop superstar opened her first headlining performance at the British festival with a stunning choreography to her hit song Training Season, from her third studio album, Radical Optimism, which was released earlier this year.
She told the crowd: “I can’t believe this, I’ve dreamed about this my whole life.”
During her performance, the audience could be heard loudly singing the lyrics to her 2018 song One Kiss featuring Calvin Harris.
Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis said the pop star was “born” to headline the festival.
Responding to the lip-syncing claims, Lipa said: “I don’t do lip-syncing.”

Other celebrities who were present at the festival included Alexa Chung, actress Anya Taylor-Joy and model Cara Delevingne. TV presenter Maya Jama was also seen with her rapper boyfriend Stormzy.
Some festival-goers opted for outlandish outfits to watch the performances, with one even hopping around like a kangaroo.
On Saturday, Coldplay were set to headline the Pyramid Stage in what would be their fifth appearance at the festival.
Before, two veterans of show business performed. Pop star Cyndi Lauper performed hits like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on the main stage.
And actor Russell Crowe flew in on Friday for his festival debut, playing on the acoustic stage with his band, Indoor Garden Party.
Rockers Kasabian were the secret act yesterday, causing chaos after so many people turned out to see them that access to the stage had to be closed for fear of overcrowding.
Glastonbury bosses are understood to have told partners to limit invitations to celebrities this year amid concerns it could “lose its down-to-earth roots”.
But no one seemed to have told that to the posh pop-up club Soho House, which served sea bream for £34.
