Police removed a British man from a Jetstar flight to Bangkok on September 28.

A drunk Jetstar passenger had to be dragged off a plane by police officers after he allegedly started shouting racist abuse at flight attendants.

Flight JQ29 from Melbourne to Bangkok on September 28 was forced to make an emergency landing in Darwin after a Briton on board became increasingly unruly.

His traveling companion, Rukaiya Shabbir, said the man, who was traveling alone, appeared to be drunk from the start of the 10-hour journey on the overcrowded flight.

“He continued screaming and singing so loudly immediately after takeoff,” he told Daily Mail Australia.

Shabbir said the flight attendants did their best to calm the man down and moved those sitting next to him to alternative seats.

“He was so drunk that the flight attendants started talking to him and that’s when he became super racist,” she alleged.

“He would say things like ‘You Asian bastards get away from me!’ and the whole plane could hear it.”

Shabbir said the man refused to sit down and continued walking around the plane.

She added that he had brought alcohol on board and appeared to have been drinking directly from a bottle before staff confiscated it.

“He had been doing this for a few hours and the pilot found out and made an announcement saying that if the man didn’t calm down, they would have to make an emergency landing,” he said.

Once the plane landed in Darwin, Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers boarded to arrest the man.

Shabbir added that he too had been putting his feet on the seats in front of him.

“He was so drunk that when we landed in Darwin, he said, ‘Where are we?’ Are we in Thailand yet?” he said.

“The whole plane applauded when he came down.”

Passengers on the plane had to wait two hours in Darwin before being transferred to another flight to Bangkok.
