LUCENA CITY — A drug-using mother strangled her 2-year-old son to death Tuesday in the city of Bacoor, Cavite, police said Wednesday, July 19.
Sonny Gregorio accused his partner, Rhina Maninang, 25, of killing their son, Sam, by strangling him inside their room at Barangay Talaba 1 around 7 am, Region 4A police said.
The incident was witnessed by the victim’s brother, according to the report.
Maninang was arrested and detained in the city jail to face charges of parricide.
“The motive being considered in this case is drug-related, considering that the suspect is a drug user,” police said.
The report did not specify whether the suspect was under the influence of an illegal drug during the incident.
