A suspected drunk driver in California muddled his words in a very unfortunate way after being pulled over by a police officer on New Year’s Day.

The unidentified driver was arrested by Murrieta police less than an hour after New Year’s Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence. bodycam footage showed.

When asked where he came from, the young man replied, “I was just about to drop my friend off because I’m under the influence tonight.”

“Are you the DUI tonight?” the confused officer asked.

“Yes, sir,” the man replied, not yet realizing his blunder.

‘Do you mean the DD (designated director)?’ said the officer.

The driver then became speechless and dropped his phone on his lap as he quickly realized his mistake.

After being asked to get out of his car, he was seen on bodycam footage telling an officer that he “had a beer and some champagne a few hours ago.”

However, the man was seen stumbling and nearly falling several times during a field sobriety test.

While standing on one foot, he nearly fell over twice, including toward an officer who extended a hand to stop the driver.

“So I have to arrest you,” the officer said to the driver.

“Even though I’m two minutes away from my destination?” the man asked.

As they were handcuffing him, an officer could be heard asking if he knew a woman’s number and the man replied, “No, not from my heart.”

‘From my heart?’ the officer replied confusedly, as the young man once again mixed up a common phrase.

The man was arrested after officers saw him ‘weaving across the roadway’.

It is not known whether the man is still in custody.

According to police, about 37 people died in drunk driving accidents every day, or about one every 40 minutes.

In 2022, more than 13,500 deaths occurred as a result of driving under the influence of alcohol.

‘These fatalities were preventable. If you plan to celebrate, do it responsibly!’ wrote the police.
