A woman who may have had a medical emergency while driving a Mercedes SUV smashed into the outside dining area of ​​a New York City restaurant and killed a food delivery lady.

The woman, 61, was driving north on 35th Street in the Ditmars-Steinway neighborhood of Queens at around 7:45 PM, when she lost control of her Benz and ran through about 12 feet at tables and chairs, the New York Daily News reported.

Police sources and witnesses told the outlet that the woman may have gone through a medical episode when she lost control of her vehicle.

A moped delivery boy, 29, was between two dining areas outside on Ditmars Boulevard when he was hit by a car. The worker was taken to Mt. Sinai Queens Hospital where he died, police said.

The driver and a female patron of the restaurant were also taken to a local hospital, but their condition remained unclear, the New York Post reported.

According to the New York Post, the Benz has the first hit two parked before hitting the delivery guy and moving on – towing him under her car before driving through the dining area outside.

A witness who was in an Uber at the time said in a video shared by the freelance news agency @ScooterCasterNY, that the woman had passed the car he was in at ‘well over 50 mph’ before the crash.

Olivia Olinger, 26, witnessed the tragic wreck across the street and told the Daily News that before the driver was taken to hospital, she had been removed from the SUV by rescue workers and spoke to medics.

“She was shocked and they took her,” said Olinger.

Rosatoro’s manager Kevin Sales, 30, told the Daily News that the SUV “came out of nowhere.”

He told the point of sale that the hard-working delivery driver “worked for many places in the area.”

The sales said the restaurant had happily decided to place people inside because it was too cold outside.

“People wanted to sit there, but we said, ‘No, come in, it’s cold,'” he said. “They were really lucky.”
