The executive producer of Netflix’s Drive to Survive has revealed how the show will cover the Christian Horner scandal when the new season arrives.

Formula One has been rocked by allegations of inappropriate behavior against the Red Bull boss made by a colleague in his team, along with the husband of former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, since an independent panel cleared him of misconduct.

However, her future remains under scrutiny after text messages between Horner and what appears to be a female colleague were leaked in 79 screenshots, while an anonymous sender sent an email also copying FIA boss Mohammed Ben. Sulayem, and the head of F1, Stefano Domenicali.

The accuser has been suspended while the saga continues, and now James Gay-Rees, the boss of Drive to Survive, the show that documents the dramas of the F1 season, has addressed the scandal and revealed how his team plans to deal with it.

“It will have to be referenced somehow, yes,” he said. the Telegraph. “And everyone will want it to be told in a particular way, so it’s about treading that line to keep everyone happy and keep Netflix and us happy, so we can sleep at night with the decisions we’ve made.”

The documentary Fly-on-the-Wall captures all the drama of a typical Formula One season.

Horner has been fighting for his reputation and battling allegations of inappropriate behavior by a Red Bull staff member.

‘You have to have balance. I think Horner looks good at the moment, but it doesn’t look like he’s done yet. Everything will depend on how it develops.

“I don’t know what he did, and I don’t really have an opinion on it, but he’s been through it and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.”

Gay-Rees also said he had spoken to Horner since the allegations came to light and revealed what the racing boss told him.

“Yes, that’s what Christian told me: ‘This is all your fault,'” he added.

Aside from Horner being in the spotlight, Red Bull has still enjoyed a great start to the season after Max Verstappen, who has been a vocal critic of Drive to Survive, won the first two three races, before being forced to withdraw from the Australian Grand Prix. Prize.

The Dutchman started from pole but was overtaken by Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari in the first laps.

Soon after, smoke began to billow from the rear of Verstappen’s Red Bull, causing the Dutchman to slowly return to the pits to retire from a race for the first time in two years.

Verstappen appeared to have a tense exchange with a mechanic after exiting the smoking vehicle, with the 26-year-old appearing to utter the word “stupid.”

But Horner came to Verstappen’s defense, saying the entire team needed to “learn and move on” from the incident.

Max Verstappen managed to stay focused on his job amid the allegations, but was forced to withdraw from the Australian Grand Prix.

“Obviously, a driver is going to be frustrated when getting out of a car after a recall,” Horner said.

“I think he has been very kind to the team and all the mechanics, we are all one team.” This abandonment harms everyone equally. It’s a matter of learning from it.

‘We have had two years without mechanical abandonments, which has been remarkable.

‘It’s a matter of understanding what caused it, learning from it and moving on.

“It is remarkable that after three races he is still leading the world championship even with that retirement, but, as I say, there are many lessons to be learned from today.”
