Arrest warrants have been issued for two brothers believed to be hiding in New South Wales after they were questioned and released over the shooting death of a woman on a city street last month.
Chloe Jade Mason, 23, known as CeeJay, was chased and shot by two men outside a house in Caboolture, north of Brisbane, shortly after midnight on December 22.
Queensland detectives had previously released images of the two men they believe can help solve the attack allegedly targeting Railway Parade.
Police have now revealed that arrest warrants have been issued for brothers Codye Thomson, 29, and Kaine Thomson-Gleeson, 32, over the alleged murder.
The two men were questioned as witnesses and were released by police without charge on the day of the shooting.
“At that early stage of the investigation there was simply not enough evidence available to indicate his involvement in this homicide,” Detective Inspector David Harbison said at a news conference on Friday.
The couple are believed to have fled the state in the following days and are now believed to be in northern New South Wales.
“Obviously these men traveled some distance from Caboolture to cross the border and would have interacted with members of the public throughout their journey,” Det Insp Harbison said.
Chloe Jade Mason, known to those close to her as CeeJay, was chased and shot by two men in Caboolture, south-east Queensland.
Officers are urging these two men to contact them as detectives say they could help solve the crime (pictured).
“They know they are wanted for Chloe’s (alleged) murder, so we fear they will do everything possible to prevent their arrest.”
The men were last seen in Chinderah, northern New South Wales, on December 30 and had visited relatives in Kempsey, New South Wales.
Police say they may be traveling in a white Holden Commodore van with Queensland registration number 953 HO4.
Investigators are asking for the two men to come forward.
First responders found Ms. Mason unconscious at the scene and were unable to revive her.
Detectives believe Ms. Mason was shot while being “assaulted by two men.”
Queensland Police also released CCTV footage from the scene at the time of the shooting, including audio, in a public appeal for more information.

Detective Inspector David Harbison said two men had shot him and investigators were treating his death as a homicide.
“Early investigations indicate that the deceased was assaulted by two men who may have chased her along Railway Parade,” Inspector Harbison previously said.
“Police are investigating reports of up to three or four shots fired on that street.”
It is believed that during the attack the woman received a gunshot wound.
Inspector Harbison said police did not believe the incident was a random attack as the parties involved knew each other.
Anyone who traveled on Railway Parade between 11.40pm on December 21 and 12.15am on December 22 is asked to contact police.
Daily Mail Australia previously revealed Ms Mason was involved in a stabbing that almost claimed her life years before she was shot.
“Now I’m in the (hospital) room,” he shared on social media in 2016.
‘I still have nurses 24/7 around me, checking on me (and) making sure everything is correct and nothing is out of place.
‘I have two drains in my heart to drain all the blood that is leaking from the valve that was cut when the knife penetrated my heart 3cm deep.
“I am fighting this with the love and support of my family and friends.”
The shocking revelation comes after it was revealed that her on-off ex-boyfriend, Kane Alexanderson, 18, was stabbed to death in 2020 during a knife fight.

‘As sisters, we mourn the things she will not experience, all the things we cannot share and the memories we will not make. “She was an incredible woman.”
Neighbors told ABC they heard several gunshots shortly before the woman’s body was found.
“I heard about three or four gunshots and then a little bit of moaning, and then I heard a guy fucking scream,” one recalled.
“(It was) very scary.”
