CNN pundit Scott Jennings accused the network of allowing Donald Trump’s comments to be repeatedly taken out of context to stoke fear and anger.
The senior political commentator argued that CNN allowed Kamala Harris to misrepresent Trump’s comments in a way “designed to radicalize” his critics.
Jennings made the comments during a panel the day after an apparent second assassination of the former Republican president, who claimed Democrats’ rhetoric was putting him in danger.
The expert said Trump’s comments that “there will be a bloodbath” in the economy if he loses the election are an example of how the left has misinterpreted his comments to stoke fear.
“Every Democrat working for or around the Harris campaign says it every day on this network and every other network,” Jennings said. “The issue of bloodshed is brought up every day.”

CNN’s Abby Phillips then chimed in, saying, “Vice President Harris incorrectly and unfairly characterized that as him saying there would be a bloodbath if he was elected.”
But Phillips added: “She did not, however, say that if Trump were elected, there would be a bloodbath.”
Jennings persisted, saying: “The ‘bloodbath’ garbage is a pillar of the Democratic campaign against Trump, as is ‘dictator,’ as is ‘eliminate the U.S. Constitution.'”
Vice President Harris took Trump’s comments about a “bloodbath” out of context during the presidential debate earlier this month.
She said: “Donald Trump, the candidate, has said that there will be a bloodbath in this election if the outcome of the election is not to his liking. Let’s move on.”
Abby Phillips then chimed in, saying, “Vice President Harris incorrectly and unfairly characterized that as her saying there would be a bloodbath if she were elected… However, she did not say that if Trump were elected, there would be a bloodbath.”
Trump survived an assassination attempt in July during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. On Sunday, he was apparently attacked again while playing golf near his Florida club.
Trump made the remarks in a March speech in Ohio, in which he discussed the impact of offshoring on the U.S. auto industry and his plans to raise tariffs on foreign-made cars.
It was in reference to the automotive industry that he warned of a “bloodbath” if his proposals were not implemented.
“If I’m not elected, it will be a bloodbath for the entire country, that’s the least of it. It will be a bloodbath for the country,” Trump said.
During the same debate, Trump claimed he “probably took a bullet to the head” because of the Democrats’ rhetoric.
“I was probably shot in the head for the things they say about me. They talk about democracy. I’m a threat to democracy. They are the threat to democracy,” Trump said.

The man suspected of the shooting, Ryan Wesley Routh, camped outside the golf course in West Palm Beach with food and a rifle for nearly 12 hours, according to court documents filed Monday. He is accused of stalking the former president before a Secret Service agent opened fire, thwarting the potential attack.
