Dramatic drone photos show where the earth gave way below cliffside residences in San Clemente

Four San Clemente buildings received yellow tags Wednesday after a mudslide that followed heavy rain.

The Orange County Fire Authority evacuated three apartment buildings Wednesday morning due to the landslide in the 1500 block of Buena Vista.

A fourth building was evacuated Wednesday afternoon.

Some residences suffered extensive damage.

Buena Vista has been closed to traffic, as has a trail below the residences.

Images posted to Twitter by OCFA showed extensive damage to the rear of the residences, with patio furniture scattered on the hillside. Orange County sheriff’s officials said the buildings had been tagged with yellow tags, according to OnScene.TV.

No injuries were reported.

Clayton Robinson said KABC-TVHowever, you may have lost everything on the slide.

“We called our insurance and they said, well, they don’t cover the hills going down,” Robinson told the station. “So all we have left is our faith in God.”
